Fragrance notes

Peppermint, Sichuan pepper, centifolia rose, Alaskan cedarwood, honey and vanilla absolute.

Inspiration behind the fragrance

Artis is built around the unexpected encounter between the centifolia rose from Grasse and Alaskan cedarwood. Two ingredients that at first glance seem to be polar opposites, but together form a harmonious and innovative accord. Peppermint, honey, Sichuan pepper and vanilla absolute lend the composition freshness, depth and a contemporary elegance.

Perfume creator

Batiste Humeau

Biography of the perfume creator

Whilst studying at the École Supérieure du Parfum, Batiste Humeau was named the winner of the third edition of the Corpo 35 Perfume Awards, organised in collaboration with Firmenich.

Sensitive, curious and passionate about natural ingredients, he developed a distinct preference for bold and creative perfumery. His love of wine and gastronomy is a major source of inspiration for his approach to fragrance accords, always seeking out unexpected combinations.

With his creation Artis, he won over the jury, chaired by Dora Baghriche, with an innovative combination of Grasse centifolia rose and Alaskan cedarwood. Two ingredients that are seemingly opposites, yet actually enhance one another. The accord is enriched with peppermint, honey, Sichuan pepper and vanilla absolute. According to jury chair Dora Baghriche, the composition demonstrates “exceptional modernity and technical refinement”.

After the competition, Batiste undertook an internship at Chanel’s perfume laboratory, where he worked alongside Olivier Polge and Christopher Sheldrake. He then joined PCW as a junior perfumer, before continuing his career at Robertet in Mexico.
