Inspiration behind the fragrance
BELLE DE JOUR forms part of ERIS’s first fragrance trilogy, La Belle et la Bête. The fragrance is inspired by Luis Buñuel’s 1967 film of the same name, in which a seemingly perfect woman lets go of her carefully constructed façade and explores her hidden desires.
Perfumer Antoine Lie translated this journey into scent. What begins as a radiant composition of orange blossom and jasmine slowly evolves into something more intimate and unpredictable. Incense, musk and seaweed add a salty warmth reminiscent of skin, sea salt and sun-warmed air.
The result is a floral fragrance that balances distance and closeness, elegance and sensuality. Luminous on the surface, yet with an irresistibly wild undercurrent.

Biography of the perfumer
Antoine Lie is a French perfumer known for his bold and unexpected approach to fragrance. He regards perfume as a living sculpture and creates compositions that are layered, emotional and fearless in challenging conventions.
As an independent perfumer, Lie values creative freedom more highly than set formulas. He prefers to collaborate with brands that prioritise artistic expression over mass-market trends. His long-standing collaboration with ERIS Parfums has resulted in some of the house’s most distinctive creations — from the animalic floral fragrances Ma Bête, Night Flower and Belle de Jour to the gender-fluid creations Mx. and Mxxx. . Each of these perfumes embodies the ERIS signature: unconventional beauty and subversive glamour.
