Inspiration behind the fragrance
For Captain Rossi, Maud Chevallier drew on a powerful image: a tall, solitary captain in his wooden cabin, surrounded by the scents of Cuban cigars, spices and rum rising from his ship’s hold.
The raw material Sigaride, which she discovered shortly before the competition, inspired her to evoke the heady atmosphere of a cigar without literally incorporating it into the formula — an exercise in style and imagination. The result is a fragrance of rum, Antillean spices, sandalwood and dried tobacco, evoking a great wooden sailing ship crossing the oceans. The scent profile is woody, spicy, resinous and enveloping.

Biography of the perfume creator
Maud Chevallier graduated from ISIPCA with a Master’s degree in Formulation and Sensory Evaluation. During the Corpo 35 competition, her employer, Muller et Koster, gave her the time and freedom to devote herself entirely to the project.
Collaboration lies at the heart of her creative process. She involves her colleagues in every stage of development, convinced that a strong team is essential for gaining perspective, discovering new angles and further refining a formula. As she herself says: “In the world of perfume, a team is essential to support the perfumer and their creation; it enables us to continually seek improvement.”
The competition taught her an important lesson: to create without seeking to please everyone, but always striving for an innovative idea that leaves a lasting impression. As she herself describes it: “A perfume can be an accessory or a second skin; everyone smells different.”
After the competition, Maud Chevallier joined Sozio as a creative perfumer. The house, founded in 1758 in Grasse, develops fragrances for fine perfumery, cosmetics and household products.
