Fragrance description

With a name that refers to the Egyptian god of the afterlife, Anubis embodies the sacred mysteries of ancient Egypt. Intoxicating jasmine blossom glows amidst rich suede and rests on an incense-infused base of olibanum, sandalwood and labdanum.

Vibrant accents of immortelle, pink lotus and saffron lend the fragrance a dark aura and shroud it in a veil of mystery.

A dark and refined composition in which leather, incense and flowers come together.

Inspiration behind the perfume

Anubis began as our perfumer’s personal signature fragrance. Liz had always been drawn to dark, leathery scents, and Anubis’s transformation from personal sketch to finished perfume was radical. The perfume remained nameless until it was complete. Only then did she realise that her fascination with ancient Egypt had unconsciously manifested itself in the composition.

The initial raw materials, closely linked to the traditions of mummification, were gradually softened and refined into a dark yet seductive perfume. After many rebirths, Anubis was born.

Anubis was the first perfume Liz created for Papillon in 2014. Since then, it has become one of the house’s bestsellers and is regarded as a lucky charm for the brand.
